It will be a long flight for the Miami Hurricanes from New York City.
Kyle Monangi rushed for 163 yards and a touchdown to give the Rutgers Scarlet Knights a 31-24 win over the Miami Hurricanes in the Bad Boy Mowers Pine Stripe Bowl.
It is the Scarlet Knights first winning season since 2014.
“It is the end of the 2023 season but the start to the 2024 season,” Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano said.
Rutgers took the lead for good after Trevor Yeboah-Kodie blocked a Miami punt that Timmy Ward recovered in the end zone.
Hurricanes quarterback Jacurri Brown, who did not take a snap all season, finished with 181 yards passing, one touchdown, and one interception.
“There are no pointing fingers,” Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal said. “We win together, we lose together.”
Hurricanes have dropped five straight bowl games.
Hurricanes finish the season at 7-6, and Scarlet Knights end at 7-6.
