The Chicago Sky fell 70-74 to the Washington Mystics at Wintrust Arena on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The Sky are now 11-19 on the season, 4-11 at home, 5-11 against the Eastern Conference, 1-2 against the Mystics this season and 34-36 against Washington all time.
Michaela Onyenwere tied her season high that she set last game to lead the Sky in scoring with 15 points in the loss. Kamilla Cardoso stuffed the stat sheet, totaling 10 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three blocks. Her six assists are a career high and she topped her previous career high of three by the end of the third quarter.
Angel Reese recorded seven points and 14 rebounds, Lindsay Allen posted eight points and four assists, and Diamond DeShields recorded 12 points off the bench.

Reese passed Candace Parker (229 defensive rebounds in rookie season) for fifth on the WNBA’s all-time rookie defensive rebounds list.
Reese then passed Cindy Brown (231 defensive rebounds in rookie season) for fourth on the all-time rookie defensive rebounds list with 232 after Wednesday’s game.
After Wednesday’s game, Reese moved into the top five for total rebounds by a player in a single season in WNBA history. Her 388 rebounds in 2024 rank fifth and she’s 16 total rebounds from tying Sylvia Fowles for the most rebounds in a single season ever (set in 2018)
Reese also ranks second all time for offensive rebounds in a single season in WNBA history and is just six from tying Yolanda Griffith for the most in a single year.
Stefanie Dolson (17 points) and Ariel Atkins (15 points) combined to score 32 of the Mystics’ 74 points. All but one of Washington’s rostered players scored against the Sky, with Emily Engstler recording nine points, three rebounds and three blocks. Brittney Sykes, Aaliyah Edwards, Julie Vanloo and Sika Koné scored six points each.
The Sky wrap up their three-game home stretch on Aug. 30 as they take on the Indiana Fever for the final time this regular season. Chicago is 1-2 against the Fever this season and 29-40 against them all time.
In the first game, the Sky fell by one point on the road, 70-71. Chennedy Carter led the team in scoring with 19 points off the bench while Dana Evans recorded 12 points. Kamilla Cardoso made her Chicago Sky debut in that game, notching 11 points and six rebounds. Kelsey Mitchell (18) and NaLyssa Smith (17) combined for 35 points in Indiana’s victory.
