Chicago Sky experienced their sixth consecutive defeat following a loss to the Minnesota Lynx

The Chicago Sky fell to the Minnesota Lynx inside Target Center in Minneapolis on Sunday, Sept. 1. With the loss, the Sky are now 11-21 on the season, 7-9 on the road, 5-12 against the Eastern Conference, 0-2 against the Lynx this season and 18-26 against Minnesota all time.

With her 19 rebounds in today’s game, Angel Reese broke the WNBA record for most rebounds in a single season. She passed Sylvia Fowles (404 total rebounds in 2018) with 418 rebounds after today’s game with eight games left to play this season. She also broke the record for most offensive rebounds in a single season, passing Yolanda Griffith (162 offensive rebounds in 2001) for first on the all-time list with 165 and counting. Reese added 17 points to complete a double-double.

Kamilla Cardoso scored a career-high 22 points in the loss, making 7 of 11 (63.6%) attempts from the floor while pulling down nine rebounds. Michaela Onyenwere scored at least 15 points for the fourth straight game (15 today) while Dana Evans added eight points off the bench.

Courtney Williams led the Lynx in scoring with a season-high-tying 22 points to go along with six assists. Kayla McBride scored 17 while Napheesa Collier scored 15 points to round out Minnesota’s double-figure scorers.

Reese is the fastest player to 400 rebounds in WNBA history, taking just 32 games to achieve the feat (Previous best: Tina Charles – 35 games)

Reese had her fourth 15/15 game this season, becoming just the third rookie all time with four or more such games, joining Candace Parker and Tina Charles (Across the Timeline)

Kayla McBride passed Tamika Catchings (606 career three-pointers) for ninth on the WNBA’s all-time three-pointers made list with 608 after Sunday’s game

Napheesa Collier passed Maya Moore (176 blocks in a Lynx uniform) for second on the Lynx’s all-time blocks list with 177.

The Sky stay on the road to take on the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday, Sept. 3. This will be the fourth and final matchup between the Sky and Aces this regular season. Chicago is 1-2 this season against Vegas.

In the first matchup between the two teams on June 27, the Sky lost 83-95 despite 20 points from Chennedy Carter and an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double from Angel Reese. A’ja Wilson (31), Jackie Young (22) and Kelsey Plum (21) all scored over 20 for Vegas.
