This season marks the inaugural expansion of the College Football Playoff to include twelve teams.
The focus has expanded beyond the top four teams to include the top eleven, with the identification of the twelfth team contingent upon the conference champions.
Are the 12 teams in the playoffs truly the best? There are valid arguments for both sides; however, I do not have a definitive answer.
“I think the process to rank the best 25 teams is a great process,” College Football Playoff Selection Committee chair Warde Manuel said. “The people I’ve heard debates and discussions about how the seeding of the tournament should go, I will leave that up to the commissioners to make that decision.”
I anticipate progress with the potential for further expansion.
