TURIN – Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic have been honored as the Year-End ATP Doubles No. 1 presented by PIF as a team for the first time.
Pavic has accomplished this achievement on three previous occasions with three different partners. Arevalo is part of the year-end No. 1 duo for the first time.
“I’m extremely happy for this achievement. If you see it in a way, you can see that it’s one year, because it’s the year-end No. 1. But for me it’s more than that,” Arevalo said. “It’s a team effort of many years. I know that me and Mate have only been playing for one season. But individually, our teams have been working for many years and I think this is just the product of our effort individually and now in the 2024 season together as a team.”
The Salvadoran-Croatian team established a new partnership in 2024, successfully advancing through tournaments on all surfaces and securing a prominent position in the doubles circuit.

Arevalo and Pavic achieved their inaugural Grand Slam championship together at Roland Garros, marking one of their four victories as a team in 2024. They also secured wins at the ATP Masters 1000 events held in Cincinnati, Hong Kong, and Geneva.
“This is a dream come true for me. This is an amazing week,” Arevalo said. “Ending the year as the No. 1 team is something that I just could have dreamt about and now it’s real.”
The year-end No. 1 team has achieved a record of 45 wins and 19 losses and continues to compete. Arevalo and Pavic currently hold a 1-1 record in Group Bob Bryan at the Nitto ATP Finals and have the opportunity to advance to the knockout semi-finals at this season’s finale.
Arevalo and Pavic were unable to participate in the Nitto ATP Finals in 2023. However, they demonstrated remarkable teamwork by securing the championship at their inaugural tournament in Hong Kong to start the season, dropping only one set in the process. Since then, they have continued to achieve significant success.
In addition to their four titles, the Salvadoran and Croatian advanced to the Rome final, semi-finals at the US Open, Monte-Carlo and Montreal, and the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. Arevalo and Pavic are also tied for No. 1 in the individual PIF ATP Doubles Rankings.
Pavic’s prior Year-End ATP Doubles No. 1 finishes, presented by PIF, occurred in 2018 with partner Oliver Marach, in 2020 with Bruno Soares, and in 2021 with Nikola Mektic.
