Miami defensive end Reuben Bain Jr. has been recognized as the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for the second time this season, following his outstanding performance in the Hurricanes’ 26-7 victory over Florida on September 20 at Hard Rock Stadium.
Bain played a key role in a Miami defense that held the Gators to only 141 total yards, their lowest since 1999. Florida also failed to reach double digits in points for the first time since 2022, scored 10 or fewer points in consecutive games for the first time since 1989, and experienced a 0-for-13 conversion rate on third downs, marking their worst performance in this area since 1998.
In what was one of the most impressive games of his career, Bain, a Miami native, recorded 10 quarterback pressures, seven tackles, one tackle for loss, and 0.5 sacks, earning a Pro Football Focus grade of 93.8. His consistent pressure in the backfield contributed to a strong team effort, resulting in three sacks, seven tackles for loss, and one interception, while limiting Florida to just seven points.

Supporting Bain and the Miami defensive line, the Hurricanes held Florida to only 16 rushing yards on 22 attempts (an average of 0.7 yards per carry) and 125 passing yards on 31 attempts (4.0 yards per attempt). The defense forced eight punts and limited the Gators to just seven first downs across four quarters.
This marks Bain’s second ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week award this season. His first recognition came earlier in the fall when he posted six tackles, 0.5 sacks, and an interception in the fourth quarter off a deflected pass. Bain returned the interception 12 yards, setting up a Hurricanes field goal that increased their lead to 24-14.
