ST PETERSBURG, FL, – Taylor Townsend has achieved the WTA World No. 1 Doubles Ranking presented by PIF for the first time in her career. She also becomes the first mother in history to reach this elite doubles ranking position.
Townsend, who welcomed her son Adyn Aubrey in 2021, is positioned to ascend to the No. 1 doubles ranking in the world when the PIF WTA Rankings are officially updated on Monday. This follows her recent advancement to the final at the WTA 500 Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington, D.C., alongside teammate Zhang Shuai earlier today.
“It feels like a dream and is without a doubt one of the highlights of my career,” said Townsend. “I loved watching doubles especially Martina Navratilova play and it’s an incredible honor to join the list of amazing players to have earned the No.1 ranking.”
