After four different champions across five ATP Masters 1000 events in 2025, the top players on the ATP Tour convene in Toronto for the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers championship.
Alexander Zverev leads the field at Sobeys Stadium, where this year’s Canadian Masters 1000 tournament will feature an expanded 12-day schedule and a 96-player draw. The German player, a former champion in Canada (Montreal, 2017), is seeking to recover quickly from his early exit in the first round at Wimbledon.
“I think at this stage for me it’s about winning, and trying to maximise what I have, and trying to maximise what I can become,” said Zverev, the No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings, who spent time training with Toni Nadal in Mallorca ahead of Toronto. “Again, I think my team, but also Tony are exceptional in that, in maximising what a player has.”
The second seed in Toronto is Taylor Fritz, who previously secured his sole Masters 1000 title on North American hard courts at Indian Wells in 2022. Fritz commenced his summer schedule in North America with a quarter-final appearance in Washington last week and is aiming to build on that performance with a strong run in Toronto.
Completing the top five seedings are Lorenzo Musetti, Ben Shelton, and Holger Rune, all of whom are notable contenders aiming to advance in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin. Musetti, ranked sixth, and Shelton, ranked ninth, are both vying for their first Nitto ATP Finals appearance. Meanwhile, Rune, currently ranked 15th, is seeking his second qualification for the prestigious season-ending event.
