Chicago Sky experienced their second consecutive loss following a defeat by the Minnesota Lynx

The Chicago Sky fell to the Minnesota Lynx inside Target Center in Minneapolis on Friday, Sept. 13. With the loss, the Sky lost the season series 0-3. Additionally, the Sky are now 13-24 on the season, 8-11 against Western Conference opponents, 7-11 on the road and 18-27 against Minnesota all time.

With Chicago losing the season series against Washington 1-3, the Sky are now ninth in the standings behind the Mystics.

Chennedy Carter led the Sky in scoring with 17 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists in the loss. Carter helped the Sky out to an early nine-point lead, but Minnesota took the advantage in the second quarter and didn’t look back.

Kamilla Cardoso also delivered a 16-point, 10-rebound performance. In her last two games against the Lynx, Cardoso is averaging 19.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. Rachel Banham and Lindsay Allen also chipped in 10 points each.

Cardoso passed Tamika Catchings (92 offensive rebounds in rookie season) for 12th on the WNBA’s all-time rookie offensive rebounds list.

Cardoso also passed Glory Johnson (95 offensive rebounds in rookie season) for 11th on the offensive rebounds list.

Cardoso then tied Tamika Williams for 10th on the offensive rebounds list with 96 after Friday’s game.

Napheesa Collier led the Lynx in scoring with 20 points and eight rebounds. Courtney Williams tied her season high in assists with 10 and posted a double-double by adding 14 points. Alanna Smith recorded a season-high 12 rebounds to go along with 11 points while Myisha Hines-Allen notched 11 points and six rebounds.

The Sky return to Wintrust Arena for the final home game of the 2024 regular season. Chicago takes on the Phoenix Mercury for the final time this season while currently trailing the season series 0-2. The Sky are also 18-27 against the Mercury all time.
