The Dolphins make me cry, Miami Dolphins Conclude Three-Game Losing Streak

The Miami Dolphins have yet to pull the plug on their season.

Dolphins collectively put together a complete game from start to finish for a 23-15 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.

In the third quarter, Tyreek Hill received a short touchdown pass from Tua Tagovailoa, marking the end of the longest scoring drought of his career. The Dolphins (3-6) successfully prevented Los Angeles from scoring, breaking their three-game losing streak and securing only their second victory in the last eight games.

Tagovailoa recorded his first interception since September 12, throwing the ball to Christian Rozeboom during the second quarter. Subsequently, the frequently injured quarterback raised concerns among his teammates when he opted to tackle the linebacker using his upper body.

“There are a lot of things that I can work on, such as turning the ball over and situational awareness with some of the plays,” Tagovailoa said. “Overall, with what the guys have done, with the losing streak that we have had, the resilience of this team showed tonight.”

The Dolphins’ opening drive looked like the team of last season who led the NFL in total yards and passing. They scored a touchdown in five plays on their opening drive. Rookie receiver Malik Washington achieved his first NFL touchdown with an 18-yard rush during the opening possession.

Miami’s strong defense demonstrated its effectiveness at SoFi Stadium by forcing two turnovers and preventing the Rams from scoring touchdowns, despite allowing 327 yards.

“The best way to win is to get the defense off the field and feed our offense; they have the firepower,” Dolphins defensive tackle Calais Campbell said. “Third down is money down.”

Dolphins had the second fewest sacks in the NFL with 10; in this game, they had a season-high four in the game.

“Negative plays at the worst time,” Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford said. “Whether it is a turnover, a sack, we shot ourselves in the foot.”

Dolphins held the Rams to 3 for 12 on third down.

“We didn’t do a nearly good enough job offensively,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said. “Defensively, we did a good job keeping our team in the game. It has to be a lot better, we have to evaluate everything, we have to be a lot better.”

Stafford entered the game performing exceptionally well this season. The Dolphins applied significant pressure throughout the match, featuring tight coverage in the secondary and effectively containing Kyren Williams along with the run game. This sustained pressure consistently forced Stafford out of position, disrupting his ability to make timely throws. As a result, the Dolphins were able to impact the overall performance of the Rams’ offense negatively.

“It was an earned win,” Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said. “I am very proud of the team because there was a lot of noise that could distract you.”

Unforeseen developments can occur in sports. The Dolphins have the opportunity to capitalize on their recent victory and gain momentum moving forward. However, they must proceed with caution as there is little room for error at this stage. They are not yet eliminated from contention. If the defense maintains the level of performance demonstrated against the Rams, they will enhance their chances for success, as defensive play has been a key area of struggle during their losing streak.
