The NBA announced tonight that Bulls forward Matas Buzelis will participate in the 2025 NBA Slam Dunk Contest at NBA All-Star Weekend in San Francisco on Saturday, Feb. 15.
The Chicago native will become the fifth player in team history in an NBA Slam Dunk Contest, joining Orlando Woolridge (1984, 1985), Michael Jordan (1985, 1987, 1989), Scottie Pippen (1990) and Tyrus Thomas (2007). Buzelis is the third rookie of the group along with Jordan and Thomas to represent the Bulls in the dunk contest.
This year Buzelis will be joined by rookie Stephon Castle of the San Antonio Spurs, Andre Jackson, Jr. from the Milwaukee Bucks and two-time defending champion Mac McClung of the Orlando Magic.
Buzelis has appeared in 48 games during his rookie campaign, tallying 5.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 13.6 minutes per game. He has recorded a team-high 39 blocks, which ranks first among all rookie forwards and fifth across all NBA rookies.
