The release date for Apple Original Films’ Formula 1 movie has been confirmed

This summer 2025, achieving the second position implies that you are the last. Therefore, speed is our only viable option.

Formula 1 and Apple Original Films have jointly announced that their eagerly awaited film focused on the sport will be released in theaters and in IMAX, with international distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures on June 25, 2025, and in North America on June 27, 2025.

“It’s massively exciting to see it all coming together,” said Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton.

In collaboration with Formula 1, the motion picture is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick. The production team includes Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman, also recognized for their contributions to Top Gun: Maverick and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Additionally, Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films is participating in the project.

“I feel like a kid, seeing Brad at work, my heart was racing,” Hamilton added. “The F1 movie is as authentic a racing movie has ever been.”

Described as a significant achievement for both motorsport and filmmaking, this project was captured in real-time during Grands Prix across the globe, involving the entire Formula 1 community, including all ten teams, the drivers, the FIA, and race promoters.

The film aims to provide viewers with an engaging and cinematic experience set in the dynamic world of Formula 1. It will feature Brad Pitt in the role of a former driver making a comeback to the sport, alongside Damson Idris, who will portray his teammate at APXGP, a fictional 11th team competing in the championship.

The production of the movie, which commenced in 2023, will proceed during this summer’s British Grand Prix and at several other races, concluding at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December.

“If I am scared, at least my partner in crime Brad is scared with me,” Idris said.

The impressive cast features Academy Award-nominee Kerry Condon, Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem, Emmy Award-winner and Golden Globe Award nominee Tobias Menzies, as well as Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

The global theatrical release will also include IMAX theatres, promising crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customised theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, creating a unique environment for audiences.
