The Dolphins make me cry, Miami Dolphins break losing streak with decisive victory

The Miami Dolphins broke their three-game losing streak.

Tua Tagovailoa delivered his best performance of the season.

Key updates for the Dolphins during a critical point in the season.

Tagovailoa recorded a season-high four touchdown passes, leading the Dolphins to a 34-10 victory over the depleted Atlanta Falcons and ending their three-game losing streak.

The Dolphins (2-6) outgained the Falcons (3-4) by a margin of 338 to 213 yards. Tagovailoa, who previously threw three interceptions in each of his last two games, was listed on the injury report prior to the game due to an illness but did not exhibit any limitations during the contest.

Tagovailoa completed 20 of 26 passes for 205 yards, connecting on scoring passes to Waddle, De’Von Achane, Malik Washington, and Ollie Gordon II. Notably, he demonstrated resilience after initially waking up with a swollen eye, which raised questions about his availability for the game.

“Probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had in terms of waking up and having that on a game day,” Tagovailoa said, adding the team’s medical staff addressed the issue with antibiotics and he wore a visor on his helmet for more protection.

“It was different,” Tagovailoa said. “I can’t remember the last time I played with a visor outside of high school.”

The Falcons were missing quarterback Michael Penix Jr., leading wide receiver Drake London, and sacks leader Zach Harrison, among others, due to injuries.

The Dolphins make me cry, Miami Dolphins and Chris Grier announce mutual separation.

Atlanta’s veteran quarterback, Kirk Cousins, made his first start since a December 16, 2024, victory at Las Vegas. Having appeared in only one game this season in a backup role, Cousins was unable to lead the offense effectively against a Miami defense committed to containing running back Bijan Robinson.

This Dolphins victory effectively addresses recent discussions about Head Coach Mike McDaniel for this week. It was the most impressive win for the Dolphins to date. The Falcons are a strong football team, even without their starting quarterback, Penix Jr., and they possess an excellent running back in Robinson. Being able to neutralize that opposition and secure a dominant road victory against Atlanta, especially with the team under pressure, is a remarkable achievement. Such a win has the potential to provide a significant boost to the team’s season.

Frank Smith, the offensive coordinator, transitioned from the booth to the sideline, which enhances the Dolphins’ performance through improved communication, increased interaction, and more direct coaching. This allows him to engage more effectively with players and share his insights. He is highly personable, and recent success has demonstrated this strength. As a young offensive team, the Dolphins benefit from additional coaching support. While Head Coach McDaniel focuses on play calling, Smith’s hands-on approach and player interaction add significant value to the coaching staff.

The Dolphins can leverage this victory and their strong defensive performance to build confidence moving forward. They will face quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens, who feature a formidable rushing offense. This presents an opportunity for the Dolphins to demonstrate their ability to neutralize their opponents and secure a consecutive win.
