Miami Hurricanes football team selected as an at-large selection to the 2025 College Football Playoff

Coral Gables, FL.— The Miami Hurricanes football team was announced on Sunday as an at-large selection to the 2025 College Football Playoff, marking the program’s first-ever invitation to the CFP.

The Hurricanes are ranked tenth overall and will travel to College Station, Texas, to compete against the seventh-seeded Texas A&M. The date and kickoff time will be announced at a later date.

“We are excited to be making our first appearance in the College Football Playoff,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “Congratulations to Mario Cristobal, our coaching staff and our student-athletes on a terrific regular season that was justly rewarded by the CFP Committee. We look forward to facing Texas A&M in the opening round and I know Miami fans will make their presence felt in College Station.”

The College Football Playoff Committee selected the Hurricanes over Notre Dame, whom Miami defeated in a head-to-head matchup.

Miami (10-2) concluded the regular season as one of the most well-rounded teams nationally. The team ranked second in the ACC in scoring offense with an average of 34.1 points per game and led the league in scoring defense, permitting only 13.8 points per contest. Additionally, Miami topped the ACC in total defense, limiting opponents to an average of 277.8 yards per game.

Miami Hurricanes win their fourth straight game

On the offensive side, Miami averaged 425.8 yards per game, accumulating a total of 5,110 yards and 50 touchdowns over 12 games. The team recorded 27 passing touchdowns and 23 rushing touchdowns during the season.

In the passing game, Miami led the ACC in passing efficiency with a rating of 165.47, completing 73.88% of its passes for 3,310 yards. Defensively, the Hurricanes restricted opponents to just 86.8 rushing yards per game, the best mark in the ACC, and allowed an average of 190.9 passing yards per game.
