Miami, FL.– The Indiana Hoosiers football team. Currently positioned at the top of the Mountain Top. Please note, this refers to the football team, not the basketball team.

Indiana football held the record for the most losses in college football history, with a combined record of 507 wins, 713 losses, and 44 ties, resulting in a winning percentage of approximately 41.9%. Emphasis held.
Since Curt Cignetti assumed the position of head coach, the basketball program at Bloomington has become a benchmark for contemporary college football excellence. His first season resulted in a school record of 11 wins and a first-round appearance in the college football playoffs.
“We are 16-0, national champions at Indiana University which a lot of people thought were never possible it probably is one of the greatest sports stories of all time,” Hoosiers head coach Cignetti said. “Are there eight first round draft choices on this team? Probally not. This team, the whole was greater than the sum of its parts.”
The Indiana Hoosiers secure a historic national championship victory over the Miami Hurricanes.
What we initially perceived as a Cinderella season—a brief, exceptional run—now seems more like the origin story of a Midwestern powerhouse. Significant contributions on both offense and defense, a notable victory at State College, and the achievement of a Heisman Trophy by the first player from IU to receive college football’s most prestigious individual award all highlight this remarkable journey.
All capped off by a postseason run featuring prominent opponents such as Alabama, Oregon, and the University of Miami.
It is now clear that Coach Cignetti was not boasting; he was stating the facts. When we enter his name and Indiana football into the search bar, the result is straightforward: national champions. They have indeed achieved that victory.
