One team I predicted to win the inaugural Club World Championship, and the other team I forecasted would have difficulty advancing beyond the group stage.
The team I selected to win, Paris Saint-Germain, reached the Club World Cup final. However, Chelsea did not give them much opportunity. Chelsea delivered a decisive 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain to win the Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Cole Palmer was balling.
The English attacking midfielder scored two goals and provided an assist for João Pedro in a commanding performance during the final of the revamped tournament, leaving the European and French champions—who finished the match with ten players—surprised before halftime.
“A special moment,” Palmer said. “That’s why you play football for days like this.”
Palmer received the Golden Ball award for being the most outstanding player of the tournament.

Chelsea arrived in the United States following their victory in Europe’s third-tier Conference League and after completing a domestic season in which they secured a top-four finish in the Premier League.
“We won the game in the first ten minutes,” Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said. “We started very good, we played very good, it continued for 95 minutes.”
Chelsea, the 2021 Club World Cup champions under its previous format, scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute. The goal resulted from a turnover when PSG fullback Nuno Mendes misplaced a pass to Malo Gusto. After Mendes blocked Gusto’s initial attempt, Gusto recovered the ball and delivered a pass to unmarked midfielder Palmer, who confidently finished with a precise shot just inside the left post.
Palmer extended the lead after the 30th-minute cooling break with a goal of exceptional skill. Receiving a precise through ball from Levi Colwill, he cut inside, feigned a pass to deceive a defender, and netted the ball into the bottom left corner.

Palmer then advanced as the playmaker, quickly progressing up the field before locating Joao Pedro. Joao Pedro controlled the ball smoothly, successfully bypassing the offside trap, and skillfully chipped the finish over goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
PSG achieves record-breaking victory over Inter in Champions League final
PSG’s challenging situation worsened when João Neves received a red card for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair in the 83rd minute, as the team’s frustration increased as the match progressed.

“Chelsea were more effective than us, they worked well on our slight weakness,” PSG captain Marquinhos said.
The match concluded on a tense note, with some players engaging in heated exchanges after the final whistle. However, the tensions quickly subsided as Chelsea’s players proceeded to celebrate with their supporters.
