If you are second you are last.
My favorite driver to win the 2019 Championship this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway; Martin Truex Jr.
Truex Jr. and the Joe Gibbs Racing team will find a way to get to the finish line no matter where they are placed to start moreover when the sunsets transitioning from day to night will only benefit Truex Jr. and his team.
Truex Jr. has nothing to prove. He started his first season with JGR with a 35th-place finish at the 2019 Daytona 500, but he made up for that loss with five straight top-10 finishes and two top-20s before scoring four wins at Richmond, Raceway (his first Cup win on a short track), Dover International Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Sonoma Raceway.
He was on fire beginning the 2019 playoffs by winning the first two races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Richmond and advancing to the Round of 12 after finishing seventh at Charlotte Road Coarse. During the Round of 8, Truex won at Martinsville Speedway to secure his position in the Championship 4.
A super strong playoff run — three wins and a 3.75 average finish not counting a 26th-place result at wild card Talladega, proves to me Truex has the confidence dialed in to carry the No. 19 Toyota all the way to the title.
The season recap proves Truex is one of the deserving final four drivers.
The overall advantage without sounding cliché team 19 is fast. Literally starting races fast. JGR equipment is the best in NASCAR and Truex with experience of winning will not have pressure like the other drivers.
