MIAMI, FL. – The Miami Marlins today announced OF Avisaíl García has signed a four-year contract with a club option for a fifth year. García hit .262 with a career-high 29 home runs and 86 RBI in 135 games for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2021, leading the club in home runs, RBI and total bases.
The deal is longest free-agent contract tendered under current ownership group.

In 2021, García had a max exit velocity of 116.7 mph (98th percentile in Major League Baseball), recorded hard contact on 46.4 percent of his balls in play (78th percentile), barreled 12.2 percent of balls put in play (80th percentile) and had an average sprint speed of 28.7 feet per second (88th percentile).
An All-Star in 2017, García, 30, has played in parts of 10 Major League seasons with Detroit (2012-13), Chicago-AL (2013-18), Tampa Bay (2019) and Milwaukee (2020-21). The Anaco, Venezuela, native is a career .270 hitter with 127 home runs and 475 RBI in 951 games. He has played 718 games in right field, 90 games in center field and 16 games in left field. Garcia has recorded 55 career outfield assists, including a league-leading 17 by a right fielder in 2015 and 13 in 2017.
