University of Miami athletic department earned high Academic Progress Rate

CORAL GABLES, FL. — The University of Miami athletic department earned an Academic Progress Rate score of 977 in the NCAA’s latest APR report, an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The NCAA released APR data for all Division I institutions Tuesday.

Seven UM programs achieved APR perfect scores of 1,000 for the 2021-22 academic year – men’s cross country, men’s diving, golf, soccer, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis and volleyball.

Three programs – men’s cross country, men’s diving and golf – achieved perfect multi-year scores of 1,000, placing them in the 90-100th percentile nationally. The multi-year scores are based the 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years.

“I am proud of our student-athletes and the exceptional work they continue to do in the classroom,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “We will continue to work with our staff and coaches to improve our APR scores.”

The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team’s academic performance.
