The Capital One Orange Bowl showcases an electrifying College Football Playoff atmosphere as the Georgia Bulldogs take on the Florida State Seminoles

Miami Gardens, FL. – No. 5 Florida State and No. 6 Georgia are set to meet in the 90th Capital One Orange Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at 4 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

This will mark the 12th time the Seminoles and Bulldogs have met on the gridiron dating back to 1954, with Georgia leading the all-time series 6-4-1. These two last met in the 2003 Sugar Bowl, where Georgia won 26-13.

The College Football Bowl season has commenced, the ACC Champion Florida State help dominating the pack by securing a total of 11 Bowl selections

Florida State will be making its 11th appearance in the Capital One Orange Bowl and its first since 2016 when it defeated No. 6 Michigan 33-32. The Seminoles will now rank third in most Orange Bowl appearances behind Oklahoma’s 21 and Nebraska’s 17. This will also mark the first time the ACC representative in the Orange Bowl will be the higher-seeded team since No. 12 FSU faced No. 15 Northern Illinois in 2012-13.

Georgia will be making its fifth Orange Bowl appearance and its first since winning the Playoff Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl in 2021 over Michigan. Before that, the Bulldogs’ last Orange Bowl was a 14-0 victory over Missouri in 1960. They also appeared in 1942 (40-26 win over TCU) and 1949 (41-28 loss to Texas).

This is the highest-ranked non-playoff Capital One Orange Bowl matchup in the CFP era, topping last year’s No. 6 vs. No. 7 matchup between Clemson and Tennessee. This is also the fourth ACC-SEC matchup in the Capital One Orange Bowl in the last five years.
