Dan Martin is eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Singles Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. – University of Miami men’s tennis player Dan Martin’s NCAA Singles Championship bid came to an end Tuesday afternoon when he fell 5-7, 4-6 to No. 61 Micah Braswell in the round of the 32.

Martin, the 30th-ranked collegiate men’s tennis player, finishes his six-year collegiate career with a 94-49 overall singles record and a 78-37 mark in doubles play.

He totaled 20 wins over ranked opponents in his career, including a defeat of the then-No. 1 player in the country, Ethan Quinn, earlier this season.

Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek will be the featured players at this year’s Miami Open

Martin and Braswell traded points to start the match, with Martin holding a narrow 5-4 lead 45 minutes into play. However, Braswell won the final three games of the set to take a 7-5 lead.

Martin jumped out to an early 3-2 lead in set two, but could not contain the dominance of Braswell, who came roaring back to tie the set at four-all. It was all Braswell from there on out as he won nine of the next 10 points to clinch the match, 7-5, 6-4.

A native of Laval, Quebec, Canada, Martin concludes his collegiate career as a four-time all-conference selection, highlighted by two All-ACC First Team nods in 2022 and 2023.
