Chicago Sky secures second consecutive victory against Dallas Wings

The Chicago Sky defeated the Dallas Wings 92-77 at Wintrust Arena on Sunday, Sept. 8. With the victory, the Sky won the season series against Dallas 3-1. The Sky also moved to 13-22 on the season, 6-12 at home, 8-10 against the Western Conference and 28-26 against the Wings’ franchise all time. 

The Sky took a first-quarter 33-19 lead fueled by Chennedy Carter’s 11 points in the period and didn’t look back. The Wings didn’t lead a single time in tonight’s game as the Sky gained a 1.0 game lead on the eighth spot in the playoffs.

Carter stuffed the stat sheet again one game after recording a near-triple-double, leading the Sky in scoring with 28 points and adding six assists. Isabelle Harrison recorded a season-high 21 points, finishing two short of tying her career high, along with nine rebounds. Kamilla Cardoso recorded a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double while Michaela Onyenwere scored 10. Dana Evans added 11 points off the bench.

Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas in scoring with 23 points while Natasha Howard scored 17 points and recorded six rebounds. Satou Sabally posted 12 points, seven assists, and six rebounds and Teaira McCowan recorded 10 points and seven rebounds, five of them offensive. Kalani Brown rounded out Dallas’s top five scorers with seven points and a team-high eight rebounds off the bench.

The Sky wrap up their three-game home stretch with a game against the Washington Mystics on Sept. 11, their fourth game against the Mystics this season. After today’s slate of games, the Mystics are one game behind the Sky for eighth in the WNBA standings.

The first matchup between Chicago and Washington this season came on June 6, when the Sky took down the Mystics 76-71 behind a 13-point, 11-rebound performance from Angel Reese. Chennedy Carter scored 25 points and Isabelle Harrison added 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench for Chicago. Aaliyah Edwards led Washington in scoring with 23 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.
