The Miami Dolphins made a road trip to Buffalo, NY, and returned to Miami with the same results.
Tyler Bass connected on a 61-yard field goal with 5 seconds left to give Buffalo a 30-27 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
The Dolphins have yet to achieve a victory in Buffalo in the past eight years, while the Bills have secured six consecutive wins against the Dolphins.
“It means everything. Very emotional,” the 27-year-old Bass commented on a field goal that marked the longest of his career, breaking the franchise record by 2 yards. The previous record was held by Steve Christie, who achieved a 59-yard field goal in 1993.
The game kept fans on the edge of their seats, featuring Buffalo’s Josh Allen, who successfully threw three touchdown passes in the second half, against Miami’sMiami’s Tua Tagovailoa. The teams exchanged leads on four occasions and collectively achieved seven consecutive scoring drives in the latter half of the game.
The Bills maintained their strong performance against the Dolphins by completing a clean sweep of the season series. Buffalo now holds a record of 7-2, having won six consecutive games, 13 out of their last 14, and nine straight at home against Miami.
The Dolphins (2-6) experienced their third consecutive defeat, losing to Arizona with a score of 28-27. The game concluded with a field goal by Chad Ryland in the final seconds, marking the second week in a row that the team has faced a loss in such a manner.
“We have to use the effort and utilize the challenge of coming back after losing on last second field goals two weeks in a row,”” Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said.
Tagovailoa experienced his second consecutive loss as a starter following a four-game absence due to a concussion.
“Regardless of where we play them, whether it is here or Hard Rock, we have to find a way to beat them,” Dolphin quarterback Tagovailoa said.
Miami equalized the score for the final time when Tagovailoa connected with Jaylen Waddle for a 7-yard touchdown pass with 1:38 left on the clock, culminating an 11-play, 81-yard drive.
“There are no moral victories; we lost as a team,” McDaniel added. “There is growth. You have to emphasize that because you want that to continue. You don’t want that to take a step back.”
The Dolphins have experienced three consecutive losses, with a ten-point combined margin.
“We have to win out from here on out,” Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill said. “All the guys are up for the task on this team.”
The Dolphins faced the Bills in Buffalo as significant underdogs and demonstrated commendable effort, competing vigorously until the game’s final play. At various points, they outperformed the Bills. With Tua’s return, the team has shown improved performance. The players should feel a sense of hope and optimism as nine games are remaining in the season.
Josh Allen consistently demonstrates his ability to perform under pressure, especially during critical moments such as third downs and in scoring situations. He has maintained a strong track record against the Dolphins and continues to be recognized as an MVP candidate, solidifying his status as a premier player in the NFL.
This year has presented several challenges, with Tua’s injury being a significant factor. Losing your star quarterback for the majority of the season undoubtedly affects the team’s performance. The Dolphins have experienced considerable turnover, and they need to adequately fill several key positions. It is essential for the players on the roster to remain focused and work diligently to finish the season on a positive note.
