It is the 40th anniversary of the Miami Open.
The inaugural women’s singles champion was Martina Navratilova, and her victory at the Miami Open was her sole title at the event.
Aryna Sabalenka secured her first Miami Open title. Given her current form, it is likely to be the first of many victories in the 305, which she considers home.

Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.
“This trophy is a special trophy because if I lost today it would be tough to come back home,” Sabalenka said.
Sabalenka’s 19th title.
Sabalenka secured three wins against top 10 opponents during this tournament.
The first set included seven break points between Pegula and Sabalenka.
“If you want to win the big tournaments and get big titles,” Pegula said. “You have to beat the best.”
Sabalenka secured the title without dropping a set.
It is the 8th career 1000 title for Sabalenka.

World No.1 doubles team Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic achieved the Sunshine Double by capturing the Miami Open presented by Itaú title, complementing their earlier victory at the ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells this month. They are only the fifth pair in history to complete this feat and the first since 2016. The top-seeded duo defeated the British team of Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool with scores of 7-6(3), 6-3 in a final that was briefly interrupted by rain.
Novak Djokovic is scheduled to compete for his 100th ATP title on Sunday, facing Czech teenager Jakub Mensik in the ATP Singles Final at 3 p.m. The disparity in experience between the two players is significant, with Djokovic participating in his 60th ATP Masters 1000 Final, while Mensik is participating in his first. Their sole previous encounter was at the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai in October 2024, where Djokovic emerged victorious with a score of 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-4.
Cristina Bucsa of Spain and Miyu Kato of Japan will compete against Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider in the WTA Doubles final scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. This will be the first encounter between these two pairs. Bucsa and Kato advanced to the final after defeating the top-seeded team of Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova in the semifinals. They will face a strong challenge from Andreeva and Shnaider, who currently rank third in the PIF Race to the WTA Finals in doubles.
