Inter Miami CF Falls Against Chicago Fire FC

Miami, FL. – Inter Miami CF experienced a 3-5 defeat against Chicago Fire FC on Tuesday evening. Forward Luis Suárez, who scored two goals, and defender Tomás Avilés contributed the team’s goals in the match held at Chase Stadium.

Inter Miami lined up with Óscar Ustari in goal; Marcelo Weigandt, Avilés, Gonzalo Luján, and Jordi Alba formed the defensive line; Rodrigo De Paul, Yannick Bright, Sergio Busquets, and Telasco Segovia appeared in midfield; and captain Lionel Messi alongside Suárez led the attacking effort.

Chicago Fire FC opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a goal from Dje D’Avilla. Jonathan Dean extended Chicago’s lead in the 31st minute.

Inter Miami responded with a goal in the 39th minute, scored by Avilés from close range after a scramble inside the box following a corner kick, marking his second goal of the regular season.

Rominigue Kouamé added a goal for Chicago Fire in the 43rd minute, leaving the score at 1-3 at halftime.

In the second half, Inter Miami nearly scored again in the 52nd minute, with both Lionel Messi’s initial shot and Tadeo Allende’s subsequent effort from outside the box hitting the woodwork.

Suárez narrowed the deficit in the 57th minute, netting a grounded shot to the far post from inside the box, finishing a precise through ball from Rodríguez. This was Suárez’s eighth goal of the season, and Rodríguez registered his first MLS assist.

Suárez equalized for Inter Miami in the 74th minute with a curling shot to the far post, concluding a well-executed team play. This was his ninth league goal of 2025 and his third in three consecutive games; Alba provided the assist, his 12th of the season.

Chicago Fire FC scored twice in the latter stages, with Justin Reynolds finding the net in the 80th minute and Brian Gutiérrez scoring in the 83rd minute, resulting in the final score of 3-5.

Inter Miami will next host the New England Revolution on Saturday, October 4, at Chase Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
