Los Angeles Lakers Introduce ‘California Dream’ Nike NBA City Edition Uniform

EL SEGUNDO, CA. – The Los Angeles Lakers unveiled today their new Nike NBA City Edition uniform for the 2023-24 season. The “California Dream” City Edition uniform is inspired by historic Lakers artwork and represents the Los Angeles dream and journey

The black uniform features a Los Angeles Lakers triangle wordmark from the 1960s when the team began playing on the west coast. The jersey trim transitions from purple to black as a nod to the sky following a California sunset. The jersey numbers mirror the same style from 1999-2017, an era that saw the Lakers win five championships while navigating growth and change.

On 2-8-24, the Los Angeles Lakers will be donning Black Mamba uniforms that were co-designed by the esteemed Lakers Legend, Kobe Bryant. This special occasion will coincide with the unveiling of Kobe’s statue.

The center of the short belt displays “LAL,” which not only represents Los Angeles Lakers, but also serves as an acronym for Leave a Legacy. The shorts feature the partial official LA logo complete with speed marks, a detail that signifies the path of chasing a dream.

Los Angeles is scheduled to debut the “California Dream” City Edition on court at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 14, against the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the In-Season Tournament Group Play.

The City Edition uniform is one of several uniforms the Los Angeles Lakers will wear on court this season, including the Icon Edition in gold, Statement Edition in Purple and the Association Edition in White.
