Sebastian Sawe and Yomif Kejelcha Break the Sub-2-Hour Marathon Barrier

A new chapter in long-distance running has begun as adidas athletes Sabastian Sawe and Yomif Kejelcha surpassed the 2-hour marathon mark at the London Marathon. Sabastian Sawe and Tigst Assefa achieved historic milestones, becoming the fastest male and female marathon runners in history.

Sawe set a new world record with a time of 1:59:30, breaking the 2-hour barrier. Yomif Kejelcha also completed his debut marathon in 1:59:41, and Tigst Assefa set a women-only world record with a time of 2:15:41.

All three athletes competed while wearing the new adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3, the fastest, lightest, and world-record-breaking version of the Adizero shoe to date.
