BAM ADEBAYO NAMED TO NBA ALL-DEFENSIVE SECOND TEAM

MIAMI, FL – The NBA announced today that Miami HEAT center Bam Adebayo was named to the 2022-23 NBA All-Defensive Second Team, earning 13 First Team votes and 27 Second Team votes. This marks as Adebayo’s fourth consecutive NBA All-Defensive Team selection and the 18th by a HEAT player in team history.

Adebayo, who finished fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting this season, averaged 20.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.17 steals and 34.6 minutes while shooting 54 percent from the field. Adebayo helped anchor a defense that ranked first in opponent offensive rebounds allowed per game, second in points allowed, second in charges taken, third in opponent field goals made per game and sixth in opponent rebounds per game.

He led the team in rebounds a team-high 46 times and in blocks a team-high 34 times while setting single-season career highs in many categories including offensive rebounds and steals. Adebayo capped the season leading the HEAT in blocks, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds and total rebounds while finishing second in steals.
