Miami Heat NBA media day to tip off the 2023 – 2024 NBA Season.
There was no Damian Lillard or Jrue Holiday in attendance, who was rumored to be part of trade talks involving the Heat all summer.
Instead, Jimmy Butler captured the media’s attention with an “emo” appearance at Heat Media Day.
“It is my emotional state,” Butler said.
Butler and the Heat are coming off a loss to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals in five games.
“If this is a phase he’s going through at 34, you have to let him go through his phases,” Adebayo added. “We all go through our emo phases.”
It is the same core of Butler, Adebayo, Caleb Martin, and Tyler Herro, with the veteran leadership of Kyle Lowry and Kevin Love.
“It’s always been about a championship for me. It will always be about that. Nothing else,” Butler said. “This is our year. This is the one. And this one’s going to feel real good.”
Butler and the Heat begin 10:00 a.m. practice in Boca Raton at Florida Atlantic University. Play a few preseason games, then they open their season by hosting the Detroit Pistons on October 25th.
