No. 4 Florida State Beats No. 14 Louisville to win ACC Football Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 4 Florida State used a dominant defensive performance to defeat No. 14 Louisville, 16-6, Saturday night in the 2023 ACC Football Championship Game.

The Seminoles moved to 13-0 on the season, while Louisville fell to 10-3.

“There’s plenty of teams that have talent. There’s plenty of teams that you could sit there and point to a moment here or a moment there, but it’s about getting the win,” Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell said. “It’s about making sure that you show up and you do the things necessary to achieve in each situation, and we’ve done that on the road. We’ve done it at home. We’ve done it with a backup quarterback, and now we’ve done it with a true freshman quarterback. This team continues to find ways to make it happen.”

Lawrance Toafili ran for 118 yards and a touchdown for the Seminoles.

“I feel like we go out there and work every day, you know what I’m saying? We play for each other. We are a close-knit team,” Toafili said. “I feel like we haven’t lost a game yet, so we’re proving our point and showing what we can do.”

The difference for the Seminoles was their defense, which had a season-high seven sacks and a critical interception that kept Louisville out of the end zone. FSU’s defense racked up season highs in tackles for loss (13), sacks (7) and PBUs (10).
