The Miami Open has experienced significant moments early in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

The first round of the 2025 Miami Open has concluded.

Key moments already stand out.

Gael Monfils defeated Fabian Marozsan on Stadium Court today in three sets. Monfils became the second oldest individual at age 38 to win a match at the Miami tournament.

Nick Kyrgios gets first match win since 2022 following his wrist injury.

Nick Kyrgios experienced a slow start, losing the first set, but ultimately secured a victory in three sets against American Mackenzie McDonald.

This victory marked Kyrgios’s first match win since 2022 following his wrist injury.

The signature music associated with the Miami Open on Stadium Court distinguishes itself from those of other tennis tournaments around the world.

“I came pretty close to crying on the court because the last two years have been brutal,” Kyrgios said.

A group of three American women progressed.

Peyton Stearns secured a victory in straight sets, while McCartney Kessler won in three sets and Bernarda Pera won her match in two sets.

Six-time champion Novak Djokovic achieved his 411th victory at an ATP Masters 1000 tournament, setting a new all-time record ahead of Rafael Nadal. In an unexpected result, former Miami Open quarterfinalist Sebastian Korda, seeded 25th, defeated the ninth seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas. The ATP third round will continue on Monday, featuring top players including No. 1 seed Alexander Zverev, No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz, No. 16 seed Frances Tiafoe, and 18-year-old Brazilian Joao Fonseca.
