J.T. Miller scores game-winning goal in overtime as the Vancouver Canucks defeat the Florida Panthers

Sunrise, FL. – J.T. Miller scored at 2:09 into overtime, securing the Vancouver Canucks’ first victory of the season with a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday evening.

Teddy Blueger and Quinn Hughes scored for Vancouver, currently with a record of 1-1-2, while Kevin Lankinen made 26 saves.

Mackie Samoskevich recorded an assist on Florida’s opening goal, marking his first career point in the NHL. He was selected 24th overall in the 2021 draft and is a University of Michigan alumnus. This milestone occurred during his 13th NHL appearance.

Florida Panthers 2024-2025 NHL Season Outlook

Anton Lundell scored his fourth goal in the past three games for Florida (3-2-1), and Jesper Boqvist also contributed a goal for the Panthers, who received 30 saves from Sergei Bobrovsky.

Florida continued to be without forwards Aleksander Barkov (lower body) and Matthew Tkachuk (illness).
