Head Coach Kirby Smart continues to address off-field conduct issues within his team. On the field, the team’s success persists, and they remain the top team in the SEC.
This program is one of the top teams in the SEC. It has won two consecutive conference titles and three in the past four years, narrowly missing the opportunity to secure four consecutive championships.
However, two appearances in the 12-team College Football Playoff, two quick exits.
While the regular season remains important, there’s little desire to wear a 2025 SEC Championship T-shirt after the team quickly departs the playoff stage.

The team lacked experience, which impacted its ability to generate pressure on the quarterback. There were limited downfield passing opportunities, and overall, the schedule was not particularly challenging at the Big Ten level.
Including the playoff, the team played exclusively SEC opponents, along with Marshall and Austin Peay. The only non-conference game against a Power Five team was Georgia Tech, which resulted in a closely contested 16-9 victory.
Despite various challenges and inconsistencies, the team demonstrated resilience and skill, achieving impressive victories over Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida, and Georgia Tech.
They secured a decisive win against Alabama in the SEC Championship, dominated Texas convincingly, and earned a prominent position in the playoff. The team narrowly missed finishing undefeated at 14-0 and reaching the upcoming matchup with Miami.
The defense is expected to be highly impactful, while the offense is anticipated to be aggressive and consistent, similar to last year. Overall, there should be greater stability across the team.
There will likely be significant preseason attention on Texas, which is well-deserved. Alabama continues to perform at a high level, LSU is emerging as a formidable contender, Oklahoma remains strong, and the SEC remains highly competitive.
Gunner Stockton is a very, very good quarterback. He’s not as flashy as Trinidad Chambliss, he doesn’t have the tools of Arch Manning or LaNorris Sellers, and he’s not in the same NFL Draft mix as Dante Moore or CJ Carr. However, he may once again be a candidate for the Heisman Trophy after finishing seventh last season.
Alongside Stockton, a key player on the move, leading rusher Nate Frazier returns after recording 947 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Additionally, No. 2 back Chauncey Bowens averaged over five yards per carry, totaling 526 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
My forecast for the Bulldogs this season 11-1.
