The Chicago Sky defeated the Atlanta Dream 78-69 on Wednesday, July 10. With the win, the Sky moved to 9-12 on the season, 4-7 at home, 5-7 against the Eastern Conference this season, 2-1 against the Dream this season and 37-25 against Atlanta all time.
Chennedy Carter led the Sky in scoring for the fifth straight game, recording 19 points, five assists and five rebounds. Angel Reese recorded her 14th straight double-double, extending her own all-time record and finishing with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Kamilla Cardoso also recorded a double-double with 10 points and tied her career high with 11 rebounds.

With two offensive rebounds, Angel Reese passed Nneka Ogwumike (98 career offensive rebounds) and tied Cheryl Ford (99 offensive rebounds) for seventh on the WNBA’s all-time rookie offensive rebounds list.
Michaela Onyenwere contributed seven points off the bench, Dana Evans recorded nine points and three assists and Isabelle Harrison notched six points and six rebounds.
Allisha Gray led the Dream in scoring with 20 points to go along with six rebounds. Naz Hillmon and Haley Jones scored 12 points each to round out Atlanta’s double-digit scorers. Cheyenne Parker-Tyus recorded eight rebounds for the Dream.
With her appearance in today’s game, Tina Charles passed Monique Currie (411 career games played) and tied Katie Douglas (412 games played) for 23rd on the WNBA’s all-time games played list.
The Sky head back on the road to take on the New York Liberty for their first back-to-back of the season on Thursday, July 11. Chicago is 1-1 this season against New York after winning in May on the road and losing in June on home. The Liberty are 18-4 this season after their 71-68 win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday.
In the first matchup between the two teams, Michaela Onyenwere drew her first start of the season and scored a season-high 13 points. Marina Mabrey led the Sky in scoring in that game, recording 21 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Angel Reese (13 points), Dana Evans (12) and Chennedy Carter (12) rounded out the Sky’s double-digit scorers.
In the May 23 game, Sabrina Ionescu led the Liberty in scoring with 19 points while Breanna Stewart recorded 18 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals. The Sky won that game 90-81 to hand New York its first loss of the season.
In the second game between the two teams, on June 4, Stewart recorded a 33-point, 14-rebound double-double to lead the Liberty in a win over the Sky, 88-75. Stewart (33), Sabrina Ionescu (24) and Betnijah Laney-Hamilton (14) combined to score 71 of the Liberty’s 88 points.
Carter led the Sky in scoring off the bench in that game, dropping 16 points. Mabrey scored 15, Reese notched a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double while Elizabeth Williams scored 10 points to go along with eight rebounds.
