San Diego FC is set to commence their inaugural Major League Soccer campaign with a match against the LA Galaxy

NEW YORK, NY. – Major League Soccer today announced that 2025 MLS expansion club San Diego FC will kick off their inaugural MLS campaign against the LA Galaxy during the opening weekend of 2025 MLS action, Feb. 22-23.

Announced in May of 2023, the Southern California club becomes Major League Soccer’s 30th club and will embark on their inaugural campaign during Major League Soccer’s 30th season.

LA Galaxy, MLS charter member and five-time winner of MLS Cup presented by Audi, will host San Diego FC at Dignity Health Sports Park in the newest intrastate matchup.

Following their MLS debut, San Diego FC will celebrate their inaugural home match by hosting St. Louis CITY SC at Snapdragon Stadium, a 35,000-seat multipurpose arena and the largest soccer specific venue in the country on Saturday, March 1. St. Louis CITY SC joined the league in 2023, setting a new standard for expansion clubs by become the first in league history to win the first give games in an inaugural season.

San Diego’s unprecedented ownership group is highlighted by entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist Mohamed Mansour, who has deep global ties in the soccer world, an unprecedented partnership that includes the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, the first Native American tribe to have an ownership stake in professional soccer in the United States, as well as six-time Major League Baseball All-Star and San Diego Padres infielder Manny Machado.
