ATHENS, GA. — After opening the spring schedule at the Michigan Invitational, the No. 3 Georgia women’s tennis team is set to compete in its first dual match of the season against No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The match will see two of the top three ranked programs in the ITA’s latest DI women’s tennis team rankings compete for the first time since meeting in the 2023 NCAA Tournament semifinal where the Tar Heels won 4-0.
The Bulldogs, led by first-year head coach Drake Bernstein, return seven of 10 players from last season’s team as they prepare to open their first of eight ranked matches out of 18 total dual matches this season.
“We are excited to go out and compete as a team for the first time tomorrow,” Bernstein said. “We’ve stacked a lot of solid practice days on top of each other and we’re getting better each day. We’re looking forward to the competitive arena bringing the best out of us.”
