Volleyball Program Welcomes Highest-Ranked Recruiting Class Under Coach Jose Gandara

Coral Gables, FL. – The University of Miami’s volleyball program was ranked as having the 25th-best recruiting class nationally going into the 2019 season, according to PrepVolleyball.com.

This ranking represents the highest for a Miami recruiting class under head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara in his seven seasons with the Hurricanes. Additionally, the class is ranked third within the Atlantic Coast Conference, behind last season’s ACC champions, Pittsburgh and Louisville.

“Next year, we will be welcoming eight new players to our roster, which constitutes roughly half of our team,” said Gandara. “This group will play a significant role in shaping our program’s identity both immediately and over the long term. The respect this class has earned within the volleyball community reinforces our confidence that we are headed in the right direction.”

The incoming class for next season includes junior transfer Janet Kalaniuvalu and seven freshmen: Savannah Vach, Allie Ashman, Amanda Falk, Angela Grieve, Janice Leao, Kennedy Prince, and Sequoia Wattles.

Miami will also have the return of two seniors, Sara Duque and Bridget Wallenberger; two sophomores, Elizaveta Lukianova and Cameron Dobbs; and three additional sophomores, Priscilla Hernandez, Taylor Burrell, and Emily Damon.
