Miami, FL. – The Miami HEAT announced today that they have acquired forward Simone Fontecchio from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Duncan Robinson.
Robinson, who has dedicated all seven of his NBA seasons to the Miami Heat, has appeared in 423 career games (including 283 starts), averaging 11.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 26.0 minutes per game. He holds the franchise record for most three-point field goals made and is one of only two undrafted Heat players to score at least 4,000 points, alongside Udonis Haslem.
Fontecchio appeared in 75 games with the Pistons last season, averaging 5.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game, with shooting percentages of 40.2% from the field and 83.3% from the free-throw line. He contributed to the Detroit reserve unit, which averaged 40.2 points per game, the second-highest in the Eastern Conference. He scored in double figures 16 times, including a season-high 23 points against New Orleans on March 17. In that game, he also recorded seven rebounds and a steal, while shooting 9-for-10 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range—becoming the first player in Pistons history to achieve those minimums in a single game.
Fontecchio made multiple three-pointers 21 times and shot at least 50% from beyond the arc on 23 occasions. Additionally, he has played professionally overseas since the age of 16 and represented the Italian National Team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where he led the team with an average of 18.0 points. He also competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, posting a team-high 19.3 points per game and helping Italy reach the quarterfinals.
