FIU Panthers have winning streak snapped by Louisiana Tech

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs receiver Carlos Henderson caught 12 passes for 326 yards and five touchdowns, in a 56-28 road win over UMass last Saturday in the first-ever meeting between the schools.

This week the FIU Panthers who played host to the Bulldogs did not allow Henderson to have a 300-plus yard game.

However with FIU trailing by 13 with 6:14 left to play, Henderson sent the Panther fans home early with a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Bulldogs went on to win on the road, 44-24.

“I just do what my coaches tell me to do and we pound it out how we are suppose to on special teams,” Henderson stated.

The only turnover of the game was a big interception by Xavier Woods thrown by FIU quarterback Alex McGough. Defense and special teams is what helped one of the most prolific offenses in college football win.

While the Bulldogs won their fourth straight, the loss was the first for the Panthers under interim coach Ron Cooper after three victories.

McGough was 25 of 44 for 281 yards and three TDs with an interception.

The Bulldogs play host to Rice next game, the Panthers are at home when Middle Tennessee visits.
