It was opening night for the Miami Heat hosting Detroit Basketball.
Heat, coming off a short break after an NBA Finals run losing to the Denver Nuggets in five, hosted a young Detroit Pistons team nearly blowing a 19-point lead after a 103-102 win.
“We want to be disruptive; we want to get teams out of their comfort zone,” Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said.
The Heat forced the Pistons to commit 17 turnovers.
Bam Adebayo scored 22 points, Jimmy Butler 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Pistons had four shots in the 64 seconds for the lead, all missed.
Cade Cunningham missed a 30-foot shot as time expired for the win.
Cunningham had 30 points and nine assists for the Pistons.
Detroit visits Charlotte on Friday.
Miami visits Boston on Friday.
