Atlanta Hawks dampen Udonis Haslem’s memorable evening; Dejounte Murray reflects on the successful performance of the Hawks

Born and raised in the County of Dade.

It was Udonis Haslem’s jersey retirement night.

“I sent a text to everybody; tomorrow night, when my jersey goes up, I am not going to be happy if we don’t win,” Haslem said.

Haslem’s No.40 was raised to the arena rafters at halftime. Heat President Pat Riley and Haslem spoke during the ceremony, which was over 35 minutes.

Dejounte Murray hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with two seconds left, and the Atlanta Hawks spoiled Haslem’s jersey retirement night by beating the Miami Heat 109-108.

“Congratulations to Haslem, he is the O.G., but we wanted to spoil the night with a win,” Murray said.

Murray finished with 22 points and his second straight game-winning shot. He hit a game-winner in Atlanta over the Orlando Magic.

The win was the 400th of the Hawks Quin Snyder’s regular season career.

Hawks connected on 15 made three-pointers.

“Coach Snyder is our coach; he loves that three ball,” Murray said. “He is pushing it in practice; he is a coach who believes in his guys; he is a coach that builds confidence in his guys; he says if you are open, take 100 in a row. You have a coach who believes in everybody like that, but he also sees the work you put in.

Hawks were without Trae Young, who was sidelined by an illness and missed his third game of a season where he’s averaging 27.2 points and 10.9 assists. The Hawks are 2-1 in those three games without their points and assists leader.

Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler each scored 25 points for the Heat, whose 22-game home winning streak against south division opponents was snapped.
