The Chicago Sky fell to the Minnesota Lynx 62-70 at Wintrust Arena on Sunday, June 30. With the loss, the Sky dropped to 6-11 on the season, 3-7 at home, 3-4 against the Western Conference, and 18-25 against the Lynx all time.
Lindsay Allen scored a season-high 13 points, surpassing her previous high of 10 points in the first half (13 by end of second quarter). She also recorded a career-high-tying six rebounds and season-high-tying seven assists, accomplishing all of these feats before the end of the third quarter.
Chennedy Carter led the Sky in scoring with 15 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists. Angel Reese recorded a double-double, notching 10 points and 16 rebounds. Marina Mabrey rounded out the Sky’s double-figure scorers with 11 points, three rebounds and four assists.
Reese reached 10 straight double-doubles, breaking the single-season consecutive double-double record set by Candace Parker in 2015. Reese is at 11 straight games with 10 or more rebounds.
Kayla McBride led the way for Minnesota, scoring 16 points, five assists and five rebounds. Napheesa Collier had a double-double, with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Alanna Smith recorded 11 points and seven rebounds.
Collier passed Rebekkah Brunson (2,464 points) for sixth on Minnesota’s all-time points list with 2,469 points scored in a Lynx uniform.
Collier is the third player in WNBA history with 10+ points, 10+ rebounds, 6+ assists, 4+ steals and 3+ blocks in a game, joining Tamika Catchings and Candace Parker (Across the Timeline).
The Sky take on the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday, July 2 at Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta. This will be the second matchup between both teams this season. The Dream are 7-10 this season after a 75-81 loss against the New York Liberty on June 30. Chicago is 35-25 against the Dream all time.
Allisha Gray leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Two-time WNBA All-Star Rhyne Howard is second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.4 points, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
Rounding out the rest of Atlanta’s double-digit scorers is eight-time All-Star Tina Charles. Charles is averaging 13.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
In the first matchup between the two teams this season, on June 8, the Sky lost 80-89. Charles (22 points), Cheyenne Parker-Tyus (18) and Allisha Gray (14) combined to score 54 of Atlanta’s 89 points. Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso and Dana Evans each scored 13 points to lead the Sky.
The game tips off at 6 p.m. CST on Tuesday, July 2 and will be available nationally on CBS Sports Network and locally on WMEU-TV and the Marquee Sports Network App.
