Defending champion Novak Djokovic is positioned alongside a group of prominent American players, including Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Frances Tiafoe, in the bottom half of the draw for the 2024 US Open.
In his first tournament following his gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics, Djokovic is seeded to potentially face recent ATP Masters 1000 champion Alexei Popyrin in the third round. He may encounter either the 13th-seeded Shelton or the 20th-seeded Tiafoe in the fourth round.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are set to meet in the semi-finals, competing in the top half of the draw. Their previous encounter in the 2022 US Open quarter-finals is widely regarded as one of the most notable matches in recent history, as they faced off for over five hours into the night, with Alcaraz ultimately emerging victorious. Following this match, Alcaraz went on to win the tournament and achieve the status of World No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings.
Key first-round matches to note include Wimbledon semi-finalist Lorenzo Musetti facing off against the powerful server Reilly Opelka, as well as last year’s US Open semi-finalist Shelton competing against 2020 champion Dominic Thiem, who is scheduled to retire later this year.
