Aryna Sabalenka Secures Her First Cincinnati Open Victory during an impressive Final Weekend

World No. 3 Aryna Sabalenka achieved a significant milestone by winning her first Cincinnati Open title and her sixth WTA 1000 title without dropping a set throughout the tournament. She secured a 6-3, 7-5 victory against the resurgent No. 6 Jessica Pegula, effectively ending Pegula’s nine-match winning streak. This match marked the first women’s final featuring two Top 10 players since 2017. Following this victory, Sabalenka will ascend to the No. 2 position in the rankings.

Top seed and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner made history by becoming the first Italian to win the Cincinnati tournament, overcoming American Frances Tiafoe with a score of 7-6(4), 6-2 in Tiafoe’s inaugural ATP Masters 1000 final. This victory marks Sinner’s fifth title of 2024 and his 15th career title overall. Celebrating his 23rd birthday on Friday, Sinner is also the youngest champion in Cincinnati since Andy Murray won the title at age 21 in 2008. Additionally, he is the 11th male player to win the Cincinnati tournament while holding the No. 1 ranking.
