Alexander Zverev demonstrated exceptional serving and powerful groundstrokes, enabling him to overcome Ugo Humbert with ease

During the Rolex Paris Masters, Alexander Zverev demonstrated his exceptional skills while competing against a determined home favorite.

On Sunday, the 27-year-old athlete demonstrated an exceptional performance in the championship match, showcasing impressive serving and powerful groundstrokes to secure victory over Ugo Humbert and win the indoor ATP Masters 1000 title. This impressive win marked Zverev’s 66th victory of 2024, allowing him to surpass World No. 1 Jannik Sinner on the list of most wins.

“I knew I had to play like this to win today,” said Zverev after he ended the dream run of Humbert with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. “Ugo is an incredible player, but here in Paris, he plays even better than he usually does, and I knew that. Once the crowd gets involved, it’s going to be difficult. So, I had to take that away early, and I did, so I’m happy about that.”

Zverev’s seventh Masters 1000 victory serves as a significant confidence boost for the German player in anticipation of the Nitto ATP Finals. With his recent success in Paris, he has surpassed Carlos Alcaraz to secure the No. 2 position in the PIF ATP Rankings. Consequently, he will enter the tournament in Turin as the second seed, vying for his third title at this esteemed season finale.

“You’re fighting all year to make the cut there, so I think once you’re there, you’re going to give it your best, and everybody else will as well,” said Zverev in Paris. “At the end of the day, you’re only playing the best eight players in the world. So there are no easy matches, and you have to play your best tennis from the first match on.”

Carlos Alcaraz narrowly defeated World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in a third-set tie-break to secure the title in Beijing
