Daniil Medvedev chasing No.1 ranking taking his talents to 4th round of Miami Open

It was a beautiful, sunny clear sky day at the Miami Open.

On Stadium court early afternoon, men’s world no.2 Daniil Medvedev defeated Andy Murray 6-4, 6-2 to take his talents to the 4th round at the season’s second ATP Masters 1000 event.

Medvedev was fantastic from the baseline and on serve. The 2021 U.S. Open champion did not face a breakpoint in the victory.

“The serve is the most imports shot in tennis,” Medvedev said. “Great champions in the sport serve well.”

Miami Open is off to energetic start, Naomi Osaka taking her talents to third round

Medvedev is now 2-0 against Murray. He will now play Spaniard Pedro Martinez. He must reach the semifinals to take the no.1 ranking from Novak Djokovic.

Naomi Osaka received a walkover into the 4th round on the woman’s side as Karolina Muchova withdrew due to a left abdominal injury.
