Sin City has now transitioned to New York City

Sin City has now transitioned to New York City.

For the second time in 2024, the Italian player distinguished himself from his competitors by securing a prestigious title on hard courts. With his victory at the US Open, the World No. 1 achieved a milestone that had not been accomplished in 47 years.

“So many big wins for me this season, starting off with Australia,” said Sinner after defeating Taylor Fritz in New York. “Playing so well there gave me confidence. The work never stops. I know I can still improve, as we saw today, a couple of things. But you have to be proud with what you have and the rest you have to work for it. I can’t wait for my continued process.”

Jannik Sinner demonstrated remarkable resilience at the Cincinnati Open

Sinner’s championship victory with scores of 6-3, 6-4, and 7-5 against local favorite Taylor Fritz on Sunday marked a significant achievement, as he became only the third male player in the Open Era to secure his first two Grand Slam titles within the same season. He follows the accomplishment of Guillermo Vilas in 1977. The Italian player built upon his success at the Australian Open in January with a series of composed performances in New York, where he lost only two sets on his way to claiming the trophy.

By securing his second title of the year, Sinner has further solidified his position in the race to conclude the season as the ATP Year-End No. 1, presented by PIF. The 23-year-old currently enjoys a 2,885-point advantage over second-placed Alexander Zverev in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, following his achievement of a Tour-leading sixth title in 2024.
