The men’s singles title at Roland Garros is centered around Jannik Sinner.

Jannik Sinner’s pursuit of his first Roland Garros title may include a semifinal matchup against three-time champion Novak Djokovic.

The top-ranked player in the PIF ATP Rankings, Sinner, will start his campaign at the 2025 Paris clay tournament with two matches against local favorites. He is scheduled to face Arthur Rinderknech in the first round, with a potential second-round encounter against either French wild cards Terence Atmane or Richard Gasquet, who is competing in the final event of his professional career.

The 38-year-old Djokovic, who will face Mackenzie McDonald in the first round, is projected to encounter 2024 finalist Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals. If he advances to the semi-finals, he may compete against Jannik Sinner. Their head-to-head record stands at four wins apiece.

Jannik Sinner will be unable to defend his title at the Miami Open due to a suspension.

Sinner, who secured his three Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open (2024, 2025) and the US Open (2024), maintains a 16-5 record at Roland Garros following his first semi-final appearance last year, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. He may face a potential fourth-round match against the highest-ranked French player in the draw, 14th seed Arthur Fils. Additionally, fifth seed Jack Draper, ninth seed Alex de Minaur, and #NextGenATP talent Jakub Mensik are all possible opponents in the quarter-finals for the 23-year-old World No. 1.

The Roland Garros draw, conducted with the assistance of special guest and Paris Saint-Germain footballer Ousmane Dembélé, assigned Carlos Alcaraz a challenging beginning to his title defense. The second seed will face former World No. 4 Kei Nishikori in his opening match in Paris.

Alcaraz is positioned to potentially face left-handed big server Ben Shelton in the fourth round, with former Roland Garros finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas also a possible opponent at that stage. Additionally, Casper Ruud, a finalist at Roland Garros in 2022 and 2023, is seeded to compete against Alcaraz in the quarter-finals.

Notable first-round matches for spectators to watch in Paris include the 30th seed Hubert Hurkacz facing emerging #NextGenATP player Joao Fonseca. The 18-year-old Brazilian Fonseca, who secured his first ATP Tour title on clay in Buenos Aires earlier this year, will be making his debut at Roland Garros.

Third seed Zverev faces another emerging talent, American left-hander Learner Tien, while fourth seed Taylor Fritz begins his campaign against Daniel Altmaier.
